The Kingdom of Jerusalem came into being after the conquest of Jerusalem by the army of the First Crusade on July 15, 1099. It was one of the four Crusader states in the Middle East and existed until 1291. Most of the kings of Jerusalem bore the Jerusalem Cross as their coat of arms.
